Play Ball!

For the last two months we've had a great time playing baseball and softball. Kayden is in the machine pitch league and plays for the Braves. He's a great batter and runner!
This year I coached the Rebels softball in the girls Falcon league with my friend Michelle. I think Jordyn thought that since I was coach she wouldn't have to participate in practice or ever sit out. NOT! But she has really improved her game and even pitched a few innings.
I'm so proud of the kids and their physical abilities with sports. But I'm even more proud of their sportsmanlike attitudes and the way they play the game.

Summer Fun

Both Kayden and Jordyn got bikes for their birthdays this year. They are having so much fun this summer cruising around the neighborhood. I have the cutest kids in the world!

Dog Blog ~ Introducing Ebony

I never thought I'd see the day we had a dog in our house! I'm such a clean freak . . . I always thought a dog would be such a mess. One morning in January (the absolute worst time to train a puppy) I woke up and had it set in my mind that we were getting a dog. I went to the paper and searched for a black schnauzer (Todd chose the breed) because I knew I wanted to name a dog Ebony. We found her in Springville and the family that sold her to us had sold her twice before but the buyers never came to get her. She was feisty and full of life and they loved her. They told us whoever ended up with this dog was the family she was meant to be with. With tears in our eyes we took her home and she was ours!
She has been such a blessing in our lives. Yes. . . she chews everything in site and loves making a mess wherever she goes. But she's sweet as can be and has been a joyful addition to the family. She is now 8 months old and is smarter than the rest of us! We love you Ebony!!

Letting Go

Today has been one of mixed emotions as I recall the last 14 years of Zack's life. Let me explain . . . about 6 months ago it came to our attention that Zack was having some behavioral problems that needed to be addressed. In doing so and getting counseling for him it was realized that he has made some choices that has landed him in a bit of trouble with the law. Over the last 6 months we have been in and out of court, back and forth to therapist and group meetings.
As a mother this has been such a difficult trial to bear. I had different plans for him and his life. And at times I've felt very guilty about where he has landed. But I've learned that I have to allow him to be himself. I've learned to allow him to be responsible and accountable for his choices. I love him so much I want to save him from hurt. But I can't do that for him. Wow - what an eye opening experience it's been. Wish this thing called parenthood came with a manual!
Zack cannot contact anyone or be contacted by anyone for now. But soon he'll be able to write letters and receive communication and I'll post the address to do that as soon as it's okay. He has such a positive attitude and is going to get through his struggles with gratitude and love for all those who are cheering him on. I ask for you to keep him in your prayers as he goes through this life changing time.

Ain't technology grand?

Over the past few years I've enjoyed reading blogs from others and have often thought that we needed one of our own. So much is going on in our lives that I think the time has finally come. We are blessed to have a long list of friends and family that regularly check in on us and this will be so slick.
I am continually amazed at modern technology and how convenient it is now to keep in touch. The other day I was giving my contact information to someone and I gave my business email address, personal email address, home phone, cell phone, shop phone, shop fax and alternate cell phone for when my battery is dead. Now I guess I have one more source to add . . . our blog. You'd think I was easy to get in touch with with all the options. Think again. Two businesses, 3 kids and one dog keeps a woman busy. Hence my email address . . . onebusywoman@gmail.com
Tune in for the fun!
